A few of us were lucky enough to attend last week’s 2012 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (in Toronto, Canada). Here’s a few important tidbits we took away from the conference:
- Windows 8 will be available to purchase October 1st, 2012. Windows 8 will work on a diverse range of devices such as: desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones. According to Steve Ballmer (CEO of Microsoft) Windows 8 will be “a total game changer.”
- Windows Server 2012 will be available to purchase September 1st, 2012.
- Office 15 (the next release of Office) will be available to purchase ”by the end of the (calendar) year.”
- Lastly, Kevin Turner (COO of Microsoft) had this to say about Windows XP: “Microsoft will be putting Windows XP to rest – permanently – in April 2014. Thanks for your great service XP, now its time to die!”
